Our first week back to school we are starting off talking about safety. Before we move to internet safety this year we are talking about stranger safety with a video from The Safe Side. Since everyone online is a "Don't Know" - it's important to discuss what exactly a stranger is before we talk about - not talking to strangers online or not giving out personal information to people you don't know. While everything we do in the computer lab is very safe, the students do not enter their own web addresses or do any kind of searches, we still need to realize that we are teaching them more and more about computers, which will give them more confidence with technology when they are not in the lab. It is my hope that anytime they get on a computer no matter where they are, that they will stay safe online. Computers are awesome, wonderful, machines that aide us in discovering anything in the world we want to....but with that power we have to also be careful and respect the fact that they can also be dangerous. Parents - to find out more info on internet safety for kids please visit http://kidshealth.org/parent/positive/family/net_safety.html. This link can also be found on the Information For Parents page of this website. Have fun and stay safe! Mrs. Schapeler
